Weekly updates

Civvies day, 22 June

Please see the poster alongside for the Civvies Day on Wednesday 22 June. As part of our Focus Week theme, girls are to wear something that represents an important woman in their lives.

LAST DAY OF TERM, 24 JUNE

Please note that there will be no Aftercare on the last day of term, Friday, 24 June so please make alternative arrangements.  The final assembly will finish at 11.00 with all the staff, including Theo leaving shortly afterwards to have a farewell lunch with Jeannette Welgemoed. We encourage you to find parking and walk to collect your children so as to avoid congestion as the whole school is leaving at the same time.

  • Grade 00 and Grade 0 will leave via the Aftercare door in Wood Road
  • Grade 1, 2 and 3 will leave via the Scout Hall gate in Lea Road
  • Grade 4 and 5 will leave via the main gate in Wood Road
  • Grade 6 and 7 will leave via the Sandown Road gate

wood road drop-and-go

Please adhere to the drop-and-go system in Wood Road. If you would like to walk your daughter to the entrance or assist her with her bags, please rather park your car down the road. If the system is not used correctly, it causes a backup in Wood Road and an overflow into Sandown Road, causing traffic jams and inconveniencing many.

JUNIOR HOLIDAY FUN CLUB

Andisa Hlanza and Rebecca Zizi will be running their Junior Holiday Fun Club for grades 00 -2 in the first week of the June/July holidays. Hard copy forms have been sent home and the form is also available on the Edana App under Documentation – News & Calendar Events.

BOOK DONATIONS

If you would still like to donate a book to the Library, please complete the form (on the Edana App under Documentation – Calendar Dates & Events) and return it to our Librarian, Karin Peters: karin@micklefield.co.za. Thank you for your support!

BOOK COLLECTION DRIVE

We are running a book collection drive in support of Outliers. Please use the winter break to see if you have any unwanted gently used books you would like to donate to the Outlier afterschool programmes that are run throughout the Western Cape.

sport & extra-murals

The winter sport/extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.

The sun came out and dried up the Astro, just in time for the  Grade 3-7 Inter-House Netball. A great action-packed afternoon was enjoyed by everyone. Well done to the Kingfishers (20 points), Swallows (16 points) and Robins (11 points).

weekly snapshots

Some of the U10 girls took part in a hockey festival hosted by RGJS last Friday. They learnt from each match and although a very hot afternoon, the girls enjoyed their time on the astro.
The Grade 0s celebrated theme week by inviting a special woman in their lives to tea and a show. The girls showed their love and appreciation by making their special person a placemat to keep forever and baking biscuits, to have with tea, to warm their tummies. Their special person got to have a chat with other special people to lift their spirits, and were entertained with a song show to warm their hearts.

We ended the term in Junior Assembly on a very high note indeed! Our junior music students performed splendidly!

The Grade 1 – 7 girls enjoyed another opportunity to meet with their family groups during our theme week, Imbokodo.  This was a perfect time to connect with girls across the school, discussing the important women in their lives and playing some ‘icebreaker’ games.
