LAST DAY OF TERM, 24 JUNE

Please note that there will be no Aftercare on the last day of term, Friday, 24 June so please make alternative arrangements.  The final assembly will finish at 11.00 with all the staff, including Theo, leaving shortly afterwards to have lunch with Jeannette Welgemoed.

GR 7 LEADERSHIP fundraisers

The Grade 7s committees have some exciting initiatives on the go in order to raise funds for their end of year gift to the school. Girls are encouraged to get involved and support them where they can.

  • Movie and games night:  15th June (Grades 4 – 7). hosted by the Robins and Swallows. Movie: Encanto; Price: R60 [includes popcorn, 2 pizza slices, mentos and a juice]; Payment – SNAPSCAN (QR code below) OR cash in an envelope with the child’s name and grade, and R60 enclosed], Time:  16:00 – 19:00.   • Scavenger Hunt: 21 June, 15:00 – 16:00 (see poster below for details). Cash / Snapscan (QR Code below – Ref: HUNT)
  • Talent Show: 22 June, Cash / Snapscan (QR Code below – Ref: TALENT). Hello everyone! We are the Cultural Committee and on the 22nd of June, we will be hosting a Talent Show! Come and join us in the Micklefield Hall with your prepared talent. This could be a dance, a song, a poem, or something obscure like balancing on your head. You are welcome to enter as a group or individually. Please fill in this google form if you would like to enter: TALENT SHOW. If you would like to participate please bring R15 to Zara Ebrahim/Grace Wilkinson/Scarlett Turk/Charlotte de la Cour. If you don’t want to perform but rather watch please Pay R5 to the above Gr 7s. Your money needs to be in a clearly marked envelope, with your name, grade and the amount you’re paying.

SPORT & EXTRA-MURALS

The winter sport/extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals. 

Fixture lists for both hockey and netball are also available on the Adana App under Documents, Sport/Extra-Murals.  Please note that each week all the information and team lists for that particular week will be sent out after the practices for the matches taking place that week.

HOCKEY

Tuesday, 7 June:  Practices

  • U9s at Micklefield from 13.30 – 14.30
  • U10, U11, Open teams at WPCC – parents collect from there at 14.45

Thursday, 9 June: Matches vs Grove:

  • U9A and U9B at Micklefield
  • U10A and U10B at Hartleyvale B astro
  • U11A and U11B at Hartleyvale B astro
  • Open A and Open B at Hartleyvale A astro

All teams playing at the away venues, go straight to the venue, irrespective of the time of each match.  Players may leave after their match is completed, unless they are a reserve for another match. 

Exact details for each team will be on the team lists that will be sent out via the class Whatsapp group on Tuesday, after the hockey practices.  Parents are reminded that they are please to transport players to and from the matches.  Spectators are allowed.

NETBALL

Monday, 6 June: Practices

  • U9 and U10 at Micklefield from 14.30 – 15.30
  • U11 at Rustenburg High School from 14.45 – 16.00
  • No practice for U12 and U13

 Wednesday, 8 June: Matches vs Grove:

  • U9A and U9B at Grove
  • U10A and U10B at Grove
  • U11A and U11B at Grove
  • U12A and U12B at Micklefield
  • U13A and U13B at Micklefield

Wednesday, 15 June: Inter-House Netball at Micklefield from 12.30 -14.30

  • All girls from Grade 3 – 7 participate, not just the girls who play netball
Daphne Jubber's hip-hop girls showing off their exam medals'. Well done girls!

Well done to Sarah Hayes (top left) who participated in the Cape Town Gymnastics Association (CTGA) District Trials for Artistic gymnastics and achieved an overall highest average highest score in her age group.

Congratulations to Mila Bester (Level 2), Isabella van Koesveld & Hannah Pearson (both Level 1) who also competed as part of the Brawns team, and were awarded medals! 

WEEKLY SNAPSHOTS

A furry visitor at lunch break!

“WHEN I GROW UP” … the Grade 00s had the best day ever at Rosen Castle where they got to “try out’ various occupations. They engaged with such interest and all played their parts – we have a group of talented little actresses too!

We were treated to a banquet of music in Junior Assembly this week. A big thank you to Ms Dilkes for her fabulous young violinists (left) and Ms Field for the beautiful piano performances (above).

Well done and thank you to our Senior Musicians who performed so beautifully in Assembly this week:

  • Violins: Joanna Twycross, Leah Farlam, and Unarine Malada
  • Singers: Ava Brotchie and Rebecca Eedes (Ms Dilkes)
  • Pianos: Isabella van Koesveld and Hannah Pearson (Mrs van Wyk)
