Micklefield Talent Show:

Thanah Isaacs and Zara Ebrahim in support of Gift of the Givers will be hosting a virtual Micklefield Talent Show. Girls are required to video themselves performing their talent and submit their entries to Mrs Patel at keshma@micklefield.co.za.  The cost per entry is R10. The winner will be decided on by the teachers and a prizes are to be won!

Beach Clean-Up:

Isla McNaughton, Rebecca Eedes and Sian Bennewithin support of Waves for Change, are challenging themselves to clean up 4 beaches this year in Cape Town.  Contact Keshma Patel keshma@micklefield.co.za for the form to support their initiative. For every R100 raised they will spend an hour cleaning a beach. All money raised will be donated to their organisation.

grade 3 bake sale

A group of Grade 3 girls, Emily de Groot, Kira Orpen, Lia Southgate, Jennifer Moultrie and Ellie Gasa, will be hosting a bake sale in support of Victoria hospital next Friday, 10 September. All grade 1, 2 and 3 girls are invited to shop for some delicious goodies. We are proud of our girls for taking this initiative in supporting a worthy cause.

NETBALL AND HOCKEY: PRACTICES AND MATCHES

We will continue with practices as usual and matches will be against St Cyprians this week for both  All information will be sent via your class WhatsApp group including drop off and collection procedures as no spectators are allowed.  Please ensure that these instructions are followed in order for us to continue to be able to play matches.

Coaches will be selecting teams on what they have seen at practices (Netball) and last week’s matches (Hockey). Teams and positions might change from week to week as the coaches see the girls playing in real match situations. Please trust the process and support the coaches in this matter.  If you have any queries, please contact Sandi Blackbeard directly.

Monday, 6 Sept: practice as usual

Wednesday, 8 Sept Matches:

  • U9 vs Pinehurst at Pinehurst, straight after school until 16:00 
  • U10 – U13 vs St Cyprians at Good Hope Seminary High School,  straight after school until 16.15. Google link to location: Location of GHS

HOCKEY

Tuesday, 7 Sept: practice as usual

Thursday, 9 Sept Matches:

  • U9 As vs Pinehurst at Pinelands High School Astro, straight after school  until 15:30 
  • U9 Bs & Cs to practice at Micklefield straight after school until 15:45
  • U10s at Hartleyvale – straight after school until 16.15
  • U11s at St Cyprian’s Astro – straight after school until 16.00
  • Open A and B at St Cyprian’s – A to be there by 16.15 until 18.00, B to be there by 15.30 until 17.00
  • Open C at Hartleyvale – to be there by 15.15 until 16.30

Once teams have been sent out, you will see the exact time of your daughter’s match for a possible earlier pickup time, but all teams must go straight to the various venues unless otherwise stated on the team sheet.

Congratulations to Ella Gray, Simone de La Harpe and Katie Featherstone who were part of the Southerns Titans U14 hockey team who took part in a tournament against Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Mphamalanga in Johannesburg last weekend. Even though the competition was fierce, their team won gold!

It was great to kick off the much anticipated hockey match season this week. Here are some of our coaches ready for action at Herschel and one of our U9 teams who played like stars at home in their first match ever! Go Micklefield!

The Inter-House Netball was played in high spirits, both on the Astro and from the sidelines. Our covid team were hard at work.

The Grade 7s whipped up pancakes and apple crumble in Mevrou’s cookery class .. and enjoyed sampling their delicious fare afterwards!

Zoe and Sophia spend time deweeding the grass... Just one of the fun things to do while waiting for your Netball.
The Grade 3s have started a pen pal project with a school in Taiwan and spent their Computer lesson today getting to know their partners.
